Profile
Motivated by a natural enthusiasm for hands-on problem-solving, my passion is to combat technical challenges with an eagerness to find practical solutions. My skills were recognised at university with the Dean’s Prize for problem-solving, creativity and technical achievement. My approach combines traditional modelmaking techniques with modern rapid prototyping methods to effectively and efficiently support designers throughout the design process. I like to focus on the mechanical and electrical design challenges within innovative user-focused products. This has led me to work on new and meaningful ideas which I find rewarding. I have the vision and attention to detail to deliver exceptional workshop environments and solutions that significantly increase productivity.

Design and modify parts with CAD
Create product models with representative CMF
Integrate electrical components into prototypes
Support build requests from early concept to vehicle production
Work independently and within small teams
Manage workshop equipment use
Offer impromptu problem-solving to colleagues
Project manage individual and group tasks
My duties as a workshop manager included:
Advanced 3D printer operation - FDM and PolyJet

Ensuring a safe place to work
Running workshop inductions and equipment training
Being a knowledge base to support workshop users
Ordering stock and consumables
Project timeline planning
Designing and setting up a new workshop using Arrival brand principles
Tailoring our Atlassian JIRA project to suit the specific needs of our small team
Conducting machine maintenance
Creating spreadsheets for cost analysis and projection
Product Design and Electromechanics
I have a strong enthusiasm for anything that makes use of movement, electronics and lighting. I have taught myself how to use electrical components like Arduino, LEDs and stepper motors. When the opportunity occurs I strive to use what I have learned to help benefit the outcome of the project.
Modelmaking
I am a hard edge maker but being a modelmaking graduate, I am equipped with a diverse range of making skills including workshop machinery, hand tools, moulding, casting, spray finishing, CAD, CAM and electronics.
Film and Stage Production
On the side of my studies, I was involved with many on and off-stage productions, filling roles from prop maker to director of photography and Technical director. Technical theatre and stage lighting gave me many opportunities to grow teamwork and leadership skills. I built my leadership, communication, and lateral thinking skills within production teams to overcome problems and help create and manage successful shows.
Digital
Competent and experienced in Rhino 6, Fusion 360, Google Sketchup and Adobe Suite software including Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign and Premier Pro. Understanding of Grasshopper, Adobe After Effects, Solid Works and 3Ds max.
Since 2012 I have been using software to enhance my learning, thinking, creativity and design.  I have wide interests and broad technical skills and enjoy seeking out and learning to use the right digital tool for the job.
